Section 4 · Technical Committee
Superior Jury and Apparatus Supervisors
Who runs the competition technically, who controls the panels, and who answers the inquiries.
Unofficial summary. The FIG Code of Points and its newsletters are the authority; every rule links to its page there.
Superior Jury President
The Superior Jury President
The President of the Men's Technical Committee, or his representative, leads the Superior Jury.
The President, with the Superior Jury:
- directs the competition technically
- chairs every judges' meeting and instruction session
- applies the Judges' Rules and keeps to the published timetable
- deals with requests to rate a new element, to raise the horizontal bar and to leave the hall — the MTC normally decides them
- deals with inquiries
- controls the Apparatus Supervisors and steps in when needed
- With the Superior Jury, he may warn or replace any judge who is unsatisfactory or who breaks the oath.
- In special circumstances he may nominate a judge.
- He supervises the measurement of the apparatus against the FIG Apparatus Norms.
After the competition, he:
- reviews the video with the MTC.
- sends the judges' evaluation to the Disciplinary Commission of the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation.
- reports to the FIG Executive Committee within 30 days. The report covers general remarks, the judges' performance with rewards and sanctions, every score intervention and an analysis of the D-scores.
Superior Jury
Apparatus Supervisors
MTC members sit as the Superior Jury and as Apparatus Supervisors.
They:
- help to lead the judges' meetings
- apply the Judges' Rules fairly and consistently
- record every exercise in symbols
- calculate control D- and E-scores to evaluate the panels
- check each Final Score, and check the apparatus against the norms

At the 2026 World Championships in Rotterdam, the Judging Support System (Fujitsu) is used in every phase. Apparatus Supervisors may review its output before they submit their D-score evaluation.
