Section 7 · D-Score
Which Elements Count
The dismount and the seven best, at most four from one group, difficulty values, and no repeats.
Unofficial summary. The FIG Code of Points and its newsletters are the authority; every rule links to its page there.
D-Jury
The Dismount and the Best Seven
The D-score counts the dismount and the seven other elements with the highest values. That is eight elements in all.
Among the seven best, at most four may come from the same Element Group; the dismount is counted apart. One exception: on horizontal bar, a fifth flight element may count if at least two flights are directly connected (at least C + C).
Sometimes the D-Jury must choose between elements of the same value from different groups. Then it chooses in the gymnast's favour — for example, it takes the element that fulfils another Element Group.

Floor:
- Four Element Groups and no dismount group.
- Its last element is its dismount.
- Its dismount belongs to Element Group II, III or IV. Whether, with four others from that group among the seven best, it can make a fifth, the Code does not say.
- A multiple salto must be among the eight counting elements.
The floor chapter gives the other rules.

The D-Jury counts the dismount first, then the next seven highest elements. The dismount always counts, whatever its value.
What applied before
Art. 6.1 counted “the best 7 … plus the value of the dismount” and did not say which was counted first. Only pommel horse's rule for Russian wendeswings said “dismount is counted first”.

Difficulty Values
These values apply on every apparatus except vault. Vault has its own values.
- A0.1
- B0.2
- C0.3
- D0.4
- E0.5
- F0.6
- G0.7
- H0.8
- I0.9
- J1.0
Each element has one value and one Code Identification Number. An element that is no longer in the Code has no value.
An element that is not listed in the Difficulty Tables needs a difficulty rating:
- FIG competition
- Submit it to the Superior Jury President for a rating, 24 hours before podium training.
- Other competitions
- A technical authority may give a provisional rating.
D-Jury
Repetition
Elements with the same Code Identification Number are the same element. The gymnast may perform an element again.
- D-Jury
- The repeat earns no difficulty value and no connection value — inside a connection too.
- E-Jury
- Judges the repeat like any other element.
- A repeated elementNo value
Exceptions:
- After a fall: the gymnast may repeat the element he missed, for credit. Not after a fall in a dismount (except on pommel horse) or in a vault.
- Pommel horse: certain elements and circles gain value when performed twice in special combinations.
- Rings: each final strength position at most once in each Element Group. This rule is stricter, not looser.
If an apparatus has special repetition rules, the elements with the highest values are counted first.
The gymnast may repeat the whole exercise only if it was interrupted for reasons outside his control. He needs the permission of the Superior Jury. A torn handguard on rings or horizontal bar is the exception: there the D-Jury approves it.
