Run Approaches

If the gymnast runs but does not touch the springboard or the apparatus, it is an empty run. He may run again, with a deduction. He may make one more approach than the number of vaults required.

  • A second approach, when one vault is required−1.0From the vault concerned
  • A third approach, when two vaults are required−1.0From the vault concerned
  • A third approach when one vault is required, or a fourth when two are requiredNot permitted

The Code gives no consequence for an approach that is not permitted. It also does not say how to judge a run that touches the board but ends in no vault.
