Swing to Handstand
One swing to handstand element, held 2 seconds, is required, and it must be among the eight counting elements. Five elements fulfil it.
- I.75 — Swing forward to handstand, or giant swing backward to handstand (2 sec)Fulfils
- I.81 — Uprise backward to handstand, or giant swing forward to handstand (2 sec)Fulfils
- I.86 — From support, swing backward to handstand (2 sec)Fulfils
- I.87 — Honma and swing backward to handstand (2 sec)Fulfils
- I.88 — Honma straight and swing backward to handstand (2 sec)Fulfils
- No swing to handstand−0.3
The Code lists the 0.3 in the D-Jury's table and does not say whether it is a neutral deduction, taken from the Final Score.

Names the five elements that fulfil the requirement.
What applied before
The Code required one swing to handstand element (2 sec) without listing them.

No More Than Three Strength Elements in a Row
At most three elements from EG II and/or III may come in direct succession. To show more, the gymnast puts a swing element of at least B from EG I between the first sequence and the next.
That swing element:
- must be recognised and among the eight best.
- may not be a kip or back kip of any kind, or an element in the same Code box as one.
- The 4th and every later EG II/III element of one sequenceNRRepetition
Every EG II and III element counts towards the three, inside the counting eight or not. It counts even when it is not recognised for poor technique.
D-Jury
One of Each Final Strength Position per Group
Each final strength position is recognised for difficulty at most once in each Element Group. So an exercise has at most two of each of these for value, one in EG II and one in EG III:
- cross-type elements (regular, L-cross or V-cross)
- support-scale types (regular or straddled)
L-sit and V-sit are basic support positions and count as different strength elements. So the gymnast may perform both uprise forward to L-sit and uprise forward to V-sit.
- Two elements ending in the same final strength position in one group — kip to L-sit and uprise to L-sitHighest counts
The Code's sentence reads “a maximum of 1 final strength position in each EG”. Its examples, and the L-sit and V-sit in one group, count each kind of position on its own.
D-Jury
Counting and Upgrades
- A swing into a strength hold that must reverse direction — front uprise to swallow, front uprise to inverted crossTwo elements
- Cross performed directly from a dorsal hangC — no higher value
- Yamawaki or Jonasson directly into a swing to a held handstandThe Yamawaki or Jonasson goes up one letter
The Code's examples:
- Jonasson, swing to handstand = D + C
- Yamawaki, Jonasson, swing to handstand = B + D + C
A dorsal hang raises no strength element's value.
The swing to handstand must be among the eight counting elements.
